  • You worry about money
  • You spend more than 20% of your take-home pay for credit payments, excluding mortgage
  • You are at or near the limit on your credit cards
  • You pay only the minimum amount due on you credit card accounts each month
  • You have received a phone call or letter about your delinquent account(s)
  • You are unsure of how much you owe
  • You have seriously considered taking out a consolidation/home equity loan to pay off your credit cards
  • You charge more each month than you make in payments
  • You do not think of credit cards as a form of debt
  • You are missing payments, paying late, or paying some this month and others next month ("robbing Peter to pay Paul")
  • You intentionally use overdraft/automatic loan features on checking accounts, take frequent cash advances, or use convenience checks on credit card accounts
  • You are using up savings to pay normal monthly bills such as groceries or utilities
  • You don't talk to your spouse about money, talk only about money
  • You depend upon overtime, part-time pay, or bonuses to meet normal expenses
  • You have paid a bill with a post-dated check and/or payday loans
